How to Calculate Crafting Profit in Albion Online
Crafting profit in Albion Online is the silver you keep after selling a crafted item, once the market tax and your real material cost are subtracted. The catch is the resource return rate, which refunds part of your materials on every craft and can turn a loss into a profit, so it has to be part of the math.
This guide walks through the calculation step by step. If you would rather skip the arithmetic, the free Crafting Profit Calculator does all of it with live market prices.
The steps
- 1Find the item sell priceCheck the current sell order price for the item in the city where you will sell it. Use the live sell floor, the lowest price a buyer can purchase at, not a historical average.
- 2Subtract the market taxSelling on the market costs a sales tax plus a setup fee. Subtract both from the sell price to get your net revenue per item.
- 3Add up your material costsList every material the recipe needs and its current buy price. Multiply by the quantity the recipe consumes to get the gross material cost.
- 4Apply the resource return rateCrafting refunds a share of your materials through the resource return rate, which focus and city bonuses increase. Reduce your material cost by the return rate to get the net cost you actually pay.
- 5Work out the profitSubtract the net material cost from the net revenue. A positive number is profit per craft. Multiply by your batch size for the total, and repeat as prices change.

The base city return is about 15 percent, and crafting in a city that specializes in your item raises it. Using focus can push the effective return well above 40 percent, which is where most consistent crafting profit comes from.
Not always, but focus greatly increases the resource return rate, so it makes far more recipes profitable. Without focus, stick to items with a strong margin or a high city return.
